Greetings / Regrets

So sorry I cannot join the 63 class attendees this weekend but I do have very fond memories of our high school days & the many activities we were involved in.
Please pass on my best wishes to all at the reunion & that I am thinking of all the stories we could share.
Here in BC we still face extreme fire dangers but on the south part of Vancouver Island we have been very fortunate in spite of heat & no rain!
Joan & I remain healthy, avoided COVID, flu & all other ailments so keep active with yoga, long walks, occasional bike rides (not electric) in the area & of course I will be back curling in senior competitive daytime leagues in another month.
All the very best & thanks so much for keeping us in touch.

Hi to everyone at the reunion,

Sorry I am unable to attend due to some family commitments this weekend.

All is well out here in western Manitoba.  It’s been two years now since Howard passed away. At the moment my health is good. I am still in my home but each year the yard work seems to get harder. However I am very lucky, as my youngest daughter Debra and family live just around the corner and I have wonderful neighbours also. I spend lots of time in the yard and try to get out golfing as much as I can. I also do lots of volunteer work.  In the winter I follow my grandchildren and their sports. Ty plays hockey for the Regina Pats in the WHL and Mya plays elite volleyball. My other daughter Shari and husband live in Saskatoon. I travel there as much as possible to see them. My grandson Carlyle works in the oil field in SK as a welder and granddaughter Carissa just graduated from U BC with a double degree in education and has been accepted into the masters program. She is starting her teaching career in northern BC.

Wishing you all a wonderful reunion. Have a great time. Wish I could have made it.

I just co-chaired a 25th anniversary event for the charity I have been involved with for 24 years, so I realize the work you have been doing for our reunion.  I know it will be a success and I truly wish I could be there.

I want to thank you and your committee for a fabulous Reunion get-together . The reunion was great and we really enjoyed ourselves! Had a super time talking to the boyz and sorry I missed talking to u more. Once again thanks for all your efforts.

Hope to see u down the road one day!

Just letting u know I talked to Allan B (Al Backman) yesterday - he is down in La Quinta CA for the winter and is doing OK. His back has been giving him trouble but is somewhat better now - they (Al & Diana) are busy with family stuff - Diana's daughter is getting/got married and are planning a get together for family and friends for some time in Oct.

Sadly, Kathleen and I will not be able to come to Winnipeg this week after all.  We were all set and had started packing when Kathlen had a bad fall Sunday. She broke her nose and one kneecap. She has a cast on her leg for 6 weeks and has to keep her leg straight so she can't fly. I need to stay here to look after her. And Kathleen's family is pretty disappointed too.

We are very sorry to miss the reunion. We will be thinking of you and all the CHS gang as you reunite. I hope you have a wonderful time with lots of laughter and hugs.

I'm so glad everything went so well for the 60th. We look forward to seeing all the pictures. Missing the reunion was the biggest disappointment of our year!

I'm still hobbling in a Zimmer splint and still sleeping lots but I can do a bit more each day. We had a huge garden this year and I haven't been able to get out to look at it, but friends have been picking and helping with all the produce. John has been picking around 300 apples a day; this year is the best crop of apples in 30 years.

Thanks for all you do in keeping the class connections going!

It was good to see the photos of the reunion but still no substitute for being there.

I am sad to say that I will not be able to attend the reunion in August after all. I have developed a condition with fairly severe hip pain (sciatica?). If there is any good news it is the fact that going out for a long bike ride makes it feel much better.

I am about 70% to 80% better now, but have random regressions that (happily) seem to be only about a day or so long up to this point. The PT folks gave me some good exercises to do and I’ve been getting “Dry Needling” treatment that works well.

Please send my regards to all who are coming. Hopefully I will get lots of great pics. The Riverview/Ashland/Lord Roberts/Churchill crowd truly were a special group of people. I have such great memories of so many of them. Often, it’s not any specific event or place - just how happy and safe I felt with them all for so many years.

Thank you for organizing the reunion and for sharing your house and yard with the attendees.  The reunion would not have happened without you.

I think that we should aim for 2028 (65 years) as 2033 is somewhat more problematic.  A hotel could stage and cater everything; all we would have to do is show up, eat, drink, and socialize.

It was great to see people like Clive, Tony, Bev, and Mary whom I hadn't seen in 60 years.

Our good friend Bruce (Watson) would have enjoyed the reunion.  He liked to talk and express his opinions.  As well, Bruce had deeply held personal beliefs, and concerns for his friends.

This would have been an especially good weekend for Bruce because his beloved Manchester United won their match after being down 0-2 after 4 minutes.

With a little luck I'll see you before the next reunion.

Sounds like you had a great turnout for the 2023 class reunion! I enjoy reading about all the old gang that participate in these reunions and the activities that have been organized. I don't venture off the Island much these days, but sure do enjoy your updates. Gary and Bev Campbell and I get together monthly for lunch on a rotating basis between Qualicum Beach and Courtenay, BC. Please keep up the good work and keep me on the e-mail list.

I want to thank and congratulate Lesley and her hardworking planning committee as well as Jim and Bill, the non-committee members for a wonderful reunion! I had a great time reconnecting and catching up with everyone. We have done some amazing things. Pat Parker - what a great sense of humour!

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Just want to say what a wonderful evening you worked so hard to plan, and the end result was success. Great to see some old classmates from many years ago and hear all there stories about what they have been living and what they are doing. Thank you again for organizing this party and I am sure the rest of the weekend will be a success. Much Health and Happiness to all and enjoy your weekend.

Cheers! Clive & Diana Morrison

Two grammatical errors: not there, but their, and where they have been living not what they have been living. Mrs. Wiggins would be correcting me on this. I should reread my emails before I push send.

Cheers! Clive

It was a great time Aug 25-27. Catching up with so many alums was amazing - hadn’t seen many of them since 1963!

Please pass on my thanks to all of your organizing committee

Yours & Dave’s hospitality was great and the evening was a great time.

Really appreciate your keeping us all in touch

Thanks again.

Thank you and your team for all you have done to make the 60th CHS Union such a success!

I am glad that I decided to attend the luncheon at Oakwood Cafe.  It was interesting to meet up with Myrna, Brenda (Bisset), Mary (Pincock) and Diane (Brewster).

Today, I was just about to congratulate you and the Planning Committee on your interesting  reunion offerings, when I realized that the events had already taken place.  So I hope that it all went well, and I send best wishes to all attendees.

We arrived safely back in Kelowna without any problems…..Yeah!  We really enjoyed the reunion and catching up with everybody and reminiscing of past times.   Dinner was delicious.  Sorry we had to miss the luncheon but we have commitments coming up pretty quick this week and need to do some preparation.  Many, many thanks to you and your committee for and excellent job putting this all together.  We will have many fond memories of this weekend and are so happy we were able to join in.  To everybody….take care and stay safe.

Hugs to all

Gail (Carter) and Tony Powls

What a wonderful three days of visiting and reminiscing with old friends. You are the glue that holds us all together. See you at the 75th?

I was interested to see if 2 specific names were on the Passages list and they are not. One was Richard (Rick Herd). I had heard that he had passed away. Another was Alan Ferguson who was a friend of Rick's and was my "across-the-lane neighbour". He was like a goofy brother to me. I guess if no one reports their passing, you wouldn't know to add them to the list.

I'm very glad I made the effort to come to the reunion. I would have been lost without Jackie's (Jackie Marsden Vaughan) help. It was indeed a very long "slumber party" and it took me days to recover, but definitely worth it.

Thanks again for all your work.

I regretfully decline our attendance this year. My thanks to you for all the time you spend keeping us together. Please keep us on your list for the 65th (!!?) reunion in 2028. Keep in touch.
